2017 Schedule of Exhibitions

2 Whitings

Sept 20 – Oct 14

Reception: Sat, Sep 30, 5-7 PM

A husband and wife painting team from Argyle, NY.

Robert Whiting was introduced to trompe l’oeil through the works of Hartnett, van Hoogstraten, Peto, and most recently, Haberle. Robert combines both landscape painting and his own particular brand of humor into most of his work. He is able to intertwine his understanding of figurative work and landscape painting into his trompe l’oeil works.

Susan Bayard Whiting is moved to paint by the way light plays with color and the reflective properties of a subject, whether it’s a still life or a landscape. If the light isn’t casting a hard enough shadow, or if she’s not seeing surrounding color bouncing off elements in a still life, then she’s just not motivated to paint that subject.
